Terms of Service
Last updated: September 2026
Who these terms apply to
These terms apply to anyone who uses this website or engages Advantage Plastering and Damp Proofing to carry out work. By using this website or instructing us to carry out a survey or job, you agree to these terms.
When these terms refer to “we”, “us”, or “our”, they mean Advantage Plastering and Damp Proofing, operating from Stalybridge, Tameside, Manchester.
Our services
We provide damp proofing, rising damp treatment, mould removal, and plastering services to residential and commercial customers across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas.
A description of each service is available on this website. If you’re unsure whether a particular service is right for your property, contact us before booking and we’ll advise you honestly.
Surveys and quotes
Free survey
We offer a free no-obligation survey for all enquiries. There is no charge for the survey visit and no requirement to proceed with any work.
Quotes
All quotes are provided in writing following a survey. A quote is valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.
Quotes are based on the condition of the property at the time of survey. If additional damp, structural issues, or access difficulties are discovered once work begins that were not visible during the survey, we will advise you before proceeding and agree any revised cost in writing.
Quote-match promise
We will match any like-for-like written quote from another BRE-accredited contractor for the same scope of work at the same property. To claim the match, provide us with the written quote before work begins. We reserve the right to assess whether the scope and specification are genuinely comparable before confirming the match.
Booking and payment
Confirming a job
A job is confirmed when you instruct us to proceed, either verbally or in writing. We will confirm the agreed start date, scope of work, and price in writing before we begin.
Payment
Payment terms are stated on your written quote or invoice. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of each stage of work. For larger jobs carried out over multiple visits, staged payments may apply and will be set out in the quote.
We accept payment by bank transfer and cash. We do not accept cheques.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to a charge to cover any materials ordered specifically for your job. We will always tell you if this applies before confirming a booking.
The 10-year rising damp guarantee
We offer a 10-year guarantee on rising damp treatment, covering the damp proof course installation and associated replastering carried out by us.
The guarantee applies provided that:
- The treatment was carried out by Advantage Plastering and Damp Proofing
- The property has not been structurally altered in a way that could affect the treatment — for example, raising external ground levels, adding new structures against treated walls, or removing or damaging the damp proof course
- Any replastered areas have not been subjected to damage beyond normal wear and tear
- The guarantee claim is made to us directly within the 10-year period
The guarantee covers defects in the damp treatment itself. It does not cover new damp arising from a separate cause — for example, a new leak, a failed roof or gutter, or penetrating damp from a different part of the building.
To make a guarantee claim, contact us by phone or through the website. We will arrange an inspection and, where the claim is valid, carry out remedial work at no charge.
The guarantee is not transferable to a new owner if the property is sold, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Our liability
We carry full public liability insurance. Details are available on request.
We are responsible for work carried out by our team and for any damage directly caused by our negligence. We are not responsible for:
- Pre-existing damage, structural defects, or hidden conditions not identified during the survey
- Damage caused by third parties or events outside our control
- Loss of income, loss of use, or consequential losses arising from any delay or defect
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded under UK law.
If you are a consumer, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that these terms do not affect.
